Mott, Nevill Francis (1905–1996)
British physicist who made important contributions in the field of quantum mechanics, especially in the theory of atomic scattering. In 1977 Mott was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, jointly with Philip Anderson (1923–) and John van Vleck (1899–1980), for their work on the electronic structures of magnetic and disordered systems.
