Polyakov, Valery Vladimirovich (1942-)
Cosmonaut and physician who, in 1994-95, established an endurance record for manned spaceflight of 438 days (14.5 months) aboard the Mir space station. A cardiac specialist, Polyakov is now deputy director of the Medico-Biological Institute.
