pubis
In the pelvis (pelvic girdle), either of a pair of small bones at the front of the hip bones. They are almost U-shaped and meet at the pubic symphysis, which is closed by a pad of cartilage. Each pubis joins an ilium and an ischium at a triangular suture in the hip socket.
