The structure of human chorionic gonadotropin.
Chorionic gonadotrophin (CG) is a hormone produced by the placenta in the uterus of most higher mammals in order to maintain the corpus luteum. Present in urine, the detection of this hormone is the basis of most methods of pregnancy testing.
