Coherence is the property of electromagnetic radiation that has a constant phase relationship between two or more sets of waves. If the peaks and troughs of one wave are always the same distance from those of another wave, the waves are coherent. It follows that the waves must also have exactly the same frequency. A pair of coherent waves produce interference. The light from a laser is coherent.
