In meteorology, a depression is a region of low atmospheric pressure with the lowest pressure at the center. It usually brings unsettled or stormy weather. In the Northern Hemisphere, winds circulate anticlockwise in a depression; they circulate clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. The opposite of a depression is an anticyclone.
