Digitoxin is a pharmaceutical derived from digitalis which is used to treat heart failure (reduced pumping efficiency of the heart) and certain types of arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat). Digitoxin is usually prescribed as an alternative to digoxin for patients with kidney disease.
