Flora family
Location and structure of the Flora family within the asteroid belt.
The Flora family is a collection of asteroids near the inner edge of the asteroid belt whose orbits have semimajor axes of 2.12 to 2.25castronomical units (AU) and mean inclinations of about 5°. All the members of the Flora family probably came from the breakup of a single parent body; however, other asteroids in this region with similar orbital characteristics appear to have different origins.
The prototype is 8 Flora, discovered by John Hind in 1847.
