Haworth, (Walter) Norman (1880–1950)
Norman Haworth was a British organic chemist and Fellow of the Royal Society. Educated at Manchester and Göttingen, he held academic posts in London, St. Andrews, and Newcastle and was Director of Chemistry at Birmingham in the period 1925–1948. He determined the constitution of vitamin C and various carbohydrates, sharing the 1937 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Paul Karrer for this work.
