Marijuana is a narcotic drug prepared from the dried leaves of the Indian hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). It is different from hashish, which is prepared from resin obtained from the flowering tops of the plant. Some people smoke marijuana like tobacco. In moderate doses it can act as a relaxant and euphoriant. It has proved beneficial to some sufferers of multiple sclerosis (MS). Possession of the drug is illegal in many countries.
