Melamine is an organic chemical compound (formula C₃N₆H₆) that reacts with methanal (formaldehyde, HCOH) to form a resin polymer, one of the thermosetting plastics. Melamine resins are used as adhesives, for impregnating paper, for treating wool against shrinkage, and as constructional plastics.
