Orion's Sword is a region of sky below Orion's Belt that includes the Orion Nebula (plus the Trapezium stars within it), the diffuse nebula NGC 1977, the open cluster NGC 1981, and Iota Orionis.

Orion's sword is referenced in the song "The Dark of the Sun" by Tom Petty in his 1991 album Into the Great Wide Open, in the line "saw you sail across a river underneath Orion's sword..."
