Ross, Frank Elmore (1874–1960)

Frank Ross was an American astronomer best remembered for his photographic search for high proper motion stars between 1925 and 1939, which yielded the Ross Catalogue of 869 nearby stars. He also built the first photographic zenith tube (1911), developed emulsions and lenses for astrophotography (1915–1924), and took the first good infrared and ultraviolet photographs of Venus (1923).
