A sideband is any frequency produced by modulation that is added to a carrier wave. Those frequencies above the carrier wave are called upper sidebands; those below, lower sidebands. Sidebands contain the information that is passed from transmitter to receiver. Such frequency modulation (FM) minimizes interference and provides greater fidelity than amplitude modulation (AM).
