A stationary point is a point in space at which a body can remain essentially motionless with respect to other bodies. The best known examples are Lagrangian points.

A stationary point is also a position on the celestial sphere at which an outer planet ceases to move in right ascension before switching from direct motion to retrograde motion, or vice versa.
