Woodward, Robert Burns (1917–1979)
Robert Woodward was an American chemist who synthesized quinine (1944), cholesterol (1951), cortisone (1951), strychnine (1954), LSD (1954), reserpine (1956), chlorophyll (1960), and vitamin B12 (1971). He received the 1965 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his many organic syntheses.
