A slur is a curve above or below a series of notes to indicate that the notes are to be played legato, e.g., with one stroke of a violin bow or with one breath in singing. A slur is a form of articulation. The three notes of a triplet, for example, are linked by a slur. Slurs are one of the ways in which curved lines are used in musical notation.
