Polykarp Kusch was a German-born US physicist who shared with Willis Eugene Lamb the 1955 Nobel Prize in Physics for showing that the electron had a magnetic moment greater than that predicted by the theory of Paul Dirac. This was an important step towards the theory of quantum electrodynamics.
