James Paget was a British surgeon who was a founder of the science of pathology. Paget discovered Trichina spiralis, the parasitic worm that causes trichinosis. He described the bone disease osteitis deformans (Paget's disease), and was among the first experts to recommend surgical removal of bone marrow tumors.
