STEDI (Student Explorer Demonstration Initiative)
STEDI (Student Explorer Demonstration Initiative) was a program, managed by USRA (Universities Space Research Association) for NASA, which is intended to demonstrate that a small scientific or technology based satellite could be designed, fabricated, launched, and operated for around $10 million. STEDI was part of NASA's "smaller, cheaper, faster" initiative for research spacecraft. Of the three missions funded, SNOE is in orbit and operating well, TERRIERS was launched but failed in orbit, and CATSat was cancelled before launch. NASA has not repeated the experiment.
